“I find FOSS Backstage to be one of my favorite conferences content-wise and community-wise.”
Nick Vidal, Community Manager at Open Source Initiative, wrote a blog post titled “Three perspectives from FOSS Backstage”, sharing his thoughts and experiences from this year’s FOSS Backstage, offering three complementary perspectives. With Thomas Steenbergen, he held a talk “Aligning wishes of multiple orgs into an open source project” presenting an innovative governance and funding model created by the ORT community to align demand and supply between organizations.
“Open source is so much more than code and it was nice to see an event focused on the non-code aspects of it.”
Tarus Balog joined FOSS Backstage as a speaker and talked about “Adventures with Open Source Business Models“, sharing his 20 years of experience in running an open source business. It was also his first time at FOSS Backstage. In his blog he shares his impressions of the event and his opinions on some of the sessions.
“FOSS Backstage is where leaders and advocates in the FOSS ecosystem – especially community leaders, OSPO staff, and even government policy types get together to learn from each other.”
Shane Curcuru was also a speaker this year, talking about “Who funds FOSS Foundations“. In his blog “FOSSBackstage Awesomeness” he talks about the contacts he made and the ideas for collaborations.
