All you need to know for your visit to FOSS Backstage

Time, Date & Location

We are excited to welcome you Monday March 4th, from 09:00 CET at our venue bUm (Paul-Lincke-Ufer 21, 10999 Berlin). The programme will start at 10:00 CET and will end around 17:40 CET followed by our Get Together.

On Tuesday, OSPO++ Breakfast Club welcomes all Berlin Open Source Stakeholders and Institutions with a stake in Open Source at 09:00 CET in the Lobby at FOSS Backstage. To participate, please register here. The official FOSS Backstage programme starts at 10:00 CET and ends 17:25 CET.

The location is fully accessible to walking-impaired participants.

Get Together

Join us for a drink and a chat at our Get Together subsequent to the first day of the conference at our venue bUm.

Take the opportunity to meet old and new friends or maybe the person to collaborate with on your next project in a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks to our partner Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation, food and drinks will be provided: We will offer a range of vegetarian and vegan snacks as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Lightning Talks

Take the opportunity and give a Lightning Talks on Monday from 17:10 CET! Lightning Talks at FOSS Backstage are short, five-minute presentations that focus on a particular idea or topic. Find out how to submit your talk idea in this news post.

Food & Drinks

Soft drinks, tea, coffee and water will be available throughout the whole conference. Lunch will be served on both days of the conference. We will have vegan and vegetarian food options available on both days.

We will have a breakfast break in the morning and a coffee break in the afternoon, where we’ll serve snacks — and cake respectively — on both days.

Here’s a preview of what you can expect for lunch:

Lunch on Monday:

  • Tuscan tomato stew with white beans, fried capers and panko/feta (vegan option)
  • fresh bread and spinach
  • apple caramel cake

Lunch on Tuesday:

  • Tahini bowls with roasted potatoes, harissa maple carrot salad and chickpea tomato salad
  • Jaffa cake
Sticker Exchange

At this year’s FOSS Backstage we will have a sticker booth where everyone is welcome to drop off or pick up stickers related to open source and Free Software. Be sure to stop by and get yours!

Don’t miss the first edition of FOSS Backstage Design!

Join us for one day dedicated to elevating Design in FOSS! On March 6, subsequent to the FOSS Backstage we want to take a deep dive into UX Design in FOSS. The single track event features 13 sessions from 15 international speakers, including two exciting workshops.

FOSS Backstage Design takes place at Wikimedia Deutschland (Tempelhofer Ufer 23-24, 10963 Berlin). For more information on the event, sessions, schedule and tickets, please click here.

Helping Hands wanted!

Lastly, to ensure a successful event, we rely on volunteers to help us with various task. We are still looking for motivated volunteers to help with registration and build up and break down. Join our team and receive free access to the entire conference, including food and drinks, as well as a FOSS Backstage 2024 T-shirt.
